environmental performance issues. Therefore, to perform various evaluations and analyzes at the level of each vehicle, system, unit, and component, we are strengthening our technological capabilities and conducting a cohesive evaluation of the environmental performance of complex, diversified, and highly sophisticated powertrain technology.

In the field of safety, aspiring for a society free from traffic accidents, we are making efforts to evaluate the safety of more sophisticated driving support systems and automatic driving systems. Despite these technological advances, some accidents are still difficult to avoid. In order to reduce the damage caused by accidents, we are reviewing the evaluation method for crash safety technology and researching an automated accident reporting system for pedestrian accidents. Utilizing the safety testing technology of personal care robots, we are expanding the scope of our focus to develop safe and reliable robots.

In the field of new mobility, while various services that utilize mobility are expected to expand, we are considering measuring social effects from the perspective of new services. We are making conscious efforts regarding people and society with proposals toward social systems, social acceptability, and dissemination scenarios. Also, through new technologies and businesses we are contributing to the development of a mobility society that is environmentally-friendly, safe, and aging-friendly.

Fashioning a society
of sustainable mobility

With the goal of "realizing a carbon neutral mobility society", we are comprehensively conducting research activities in related fields, targeting a range from internal combustion engine automobiles to electric vehicles (xEV).

Striving for the world's
safest road traffic

To achieve a society with safe road traffic, we are researching automobile safety and safety evaluation projects of automated driving systems, driving support devices, and mobile vehicles, such as robots.

In JARI, in addition to the conventional fields of efforts such as "ITS" and "Autonomous driving" of automobiles, we will engage in research in the new mobility field to improve and create the "value" (safety, environmental friendliness, sociality, economy, etc.) of mobility and mobility services such as CASE (Connected, Autonomous, Shared, Electric) and MaaS (Mobility as a Service).
