Privacy Policy


The Japan Automobile Research Institute (hereinafter referred to as "JARI") has established the following privacy policy for the handling of personal information held by JARI,which is used in the course of its business, and it will endeavor to protect such personal information.

1.Compliance with Laws and Regulations and Continuous Improvement of the Management System

JARI shall comply with the "Act on the Protection of Personal Information" and other relevant laws and regulations, as well as this policy and the related rules of JARI, and handle personal information appropriately.
In addition, to maintain appropriate and reliable protection of personal information, JARI will periodically review the status of its operation and strive for continuous improvement.

2.Acquisition and Use of Personal Information

JARI shall clarify the purpose of use of personal information and use such information only to the extent necessary to achieve that purpose.

3.Purpose of Use

The purpose of use of personal information shall be announced on the website of JARI, and any other purpose of use shall be clearly indicated at the time of acquisition.

4.Proper Acquisition

JARI shall acquire personal information to the extent necessary for its business by lawful and appropriate means.

5.Handling of Anonymously Processed Information

When JARI creates or provides anonymously processed information as defined in the “Act on the Protection of Personal Information”, JARI shall handle such information in an appropriate manner in compliance with the Act, other relevant laws and regulations, and the relevant rules of JARI.

6.Ensuring Accuracy and Security

In order to ensure the accuracy and security of personal information, JARI shall endeavor to keep the personal information that is in its possession accurate and up-to-date, and shall take necessary and appropriate security control measures to prevent information leaks, etc.

7.Provision of Personal Information to Third Parties

JARI will not provide personal information to any third party without the consent of the individual, except in the following exceptional cases:

  1. When required by law
  2. When it is necessary to protect the life, body, or property of an individual and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the individual.
  3. When it is particularly necessary to improve public health or promote the sound growth of children, and it is difficult to obtain the consent of the individual.

8.Supervision of Contractors

JARI may outsource the handling of personal information to a third party for the purpose of conducting its business.
In the event that JARI outsources the handling of personal information to a third party, JARI will conclude a necessary contract with the third party to ensure appropriate security management and will conduct appropriate management and supervision of the third party.

9.Procedures for Disclosure, etc.

When JARI receives a request from an individual for notification of the purpose of use of his/her personal information, disclosure of the content of his/her personal information, correction, addition, deletion, suspension of use, deletion, or suspension of provision to a third party of his/her personal information in the event that the content of the retained personal data is contrary to the facts, etc., JARI will respond appropriately in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations after confirming the identity of the individual.

10.Response to Complaints

In the event that JARI receives a complaint regarding the handling of personal information, JARI shall respond to the complaint in an appropriate and prompt manner.
