About JARI

Japan Automobile Research Institute (JARI) is a comprehensive research institute that carries out basic surveys, research, and technology development, as well as testing and evaluation of technology related to automobiles. JARI was established in April 1969 as a comprehensive research institute related to automobiles, as the successor to an automobile high-speed proving ground, which was established in 1961.

JARI carries out research primarily in the three fields of environment, safety, and mobility, and our cutting-edge research anticipates the needs of society five to ten years down the road, thereby helping to create a sustainable, safe, and secure mobility-based society.
