Kitakyushu Hydrogen Station (Co-Operative Station)

By-product hydrogen from steelmaking plant

Kitakyushu Hydrogen Station is an offsite-type station to which hydrogen is directly delivered via a pipeline. This approach is the next-generation hydrogen station, and the Kitakyushu station is the first of this type in Japan and only the third in the world.
The facility was designed as the eastern fuelling base for the "Hydrogen Highway," a project led by Fukuoka Pref. It started operations in September 2009.
